Wonderland 2011's parade theme

Port Douglas Carnivale invites the Douglas community to dream up their own interpretation of a DOUGLAS WONDERLAND and dress up their floats and costumes for the 2011 Street Parade.

“Local Mossman community member Joʼel Collinson came up with the great idea and presented it to the Carnivale team earlier in the year. We all loved the idea” said Martine Cotton, Carnivale Event Manager.

She added that “a wonderland is a place or a thing or a scene that you love – and so there are no boundaries to this theme.”

Organisers are planning to support the Street Parade with costume making workshops in the lead up to Carnivale, and want to encourage the entire community to come to the parade with their own version of a Wonderland Costume whether they are on a float or just soaking up the atmosphere.

Similarly, organisers would love to see all local businesses, not just Macrossan St Retailers, set up a Carnivale window or foyer display to create a fantastic atmosphere for all our visitors in 2011.

2011 Carnivale dates are set at 19 May to 29 May, and the festival will have a strong focus on cuisine, culture and sports.
