Don your baggy green thinking cap
With the dismal performance of the Australian cricket team during the second Ashes test in Adelaide, it may be wise to look to happier times when the Aussies were 'Invincible'.
In 1948, the Australian team toured England and, led by Don Bradman who was making his fourth and final tour of England, became the fist team to leave England without losing a match.
This feat earned them the nickname of The Invincibles, and they are still remembered as one of the greatest cricket teams ever.
They won the Test series 4–0 with one draw with a team stacked with legendary Australian cricketers such as Neil Harvey, Sid Barnes, Ray Lindwall, Keith Miller, and of course, Bradman.
Now, the Port Douglas Cricket Club is giving you the opportunity to own a piece of history from this tour, with a framed picture of The Invincibles, signed by the entire 1948 Australian team.
Number 63 in a collection of 500, the piece of memorabilia will be auctioned at the Port Douglas Cricket Club as part of their trivia night on Friday, 10 December at Plantation Resort.
There'll be pre-dinner drinks from 6.30pm with the action kicking off at 7pm.
