Quicksilver launches Christmas Appeal

The Quicksilver Group has launched their  7th annual Christmas Charity Appeal, and they're calling on the tourism industry and friends of tourism to support the region.

Many of us can't imagine a Christmas with nothing, and according to Quicksilver this is the reason for co-ordinating the yearly tourism driven appeal.

Funds donated are used to buy gifts and food items for those in need in our community through assisting the local charities of St Vincents, Lifeline, The Salvation Army and the Douglas Community.

Green Island Resort is kick starting the appeal with bedspreads, blankets and bathrobes from the current refurbishment that is underway on the Island.

“It has been a tough few years for this region, but despite this we are hoping the tourism industry, our local suppliers and the general community will join us in this endeavour,” said Michael Healy, Quicksilver Group’s Sales and Marketing Manager.

“If we all give one toy or a can of food or a jar of vegemite it will all go towards helping those in need in our local community this festive season.

The charities are seeking food contributions including tinned ham, tinned vegetables and fruit as well as vegemite, peanut butter, chips and other little treats.  They have also requested toys suitable for ages 0 – 16 years, adult toiletries and gifts as well as wrapping paper.

“If anyone would like to donate please call our office and a company representative will come and collect,” said Mr Healy.
