Sky Safari's Za Harricharan has been invited to join the board of Tourism Port Douglas and Daintree, and Wendy Morris has resigned as Chairman at the recent Annual General Meeting.

Ms Harricharan, who is one of two invited directors on the board, said she was honoured to be given the position.

"Doug Ryan (TPDD's executive officer) approached me regarding being on the board having previously been involved in two TAG groups, the Port Douglas Incentives group and the Port Douglas Wedding group."

Division 10 Councillor, Julia Leu, who is also a TPDD director said Ms Harricharan will be a valuable team member.

"Za is going to be a great addition and bring lots of marketing experience and lots of energy," she said.

Ms Harricharan said she aims to be very active in her role. "Once I sit in on my first board meeting and have got an idea of what they've got going on I will be making sure I can make a productive contribution."

Gordon Welham has been appointed as the new chairman of the board.
