Hokkaido calling

If you're looking for a break from the February heat, an intrepid group of skiers will be heading across the equator to Hokkaido, Japan, to experience the wonders of the local culture and of course, hit the snowfields.

And you're invited. Guy Besley is organising the epic, six resort holiday, the second such trip under his Latitude Ski banner.

"This is a great way to take the stress out of your ski holiday," he said. "We'll show you the places to go 'off the beaten track' to get the best possible experience."

Japan is renowned for its amazing powder snow, and above all, famous hospitality and friendliness of the locals.

"Fun is the focus of the trip," Guy said but added he was remaining tightlipped on the details of the itinerary.

"I'm keeping part of the itinerary a secret. Japan has only been on the (skiing) radar for ten years so there's still a lot of untouched areas."

Guy said that there is a large skiing fraternity in the far north of Queensland.

"There's a lot of skiers around in Port and Cairns, but many of them have got no idea where to go so we can show them."
