The new edition of 'The Golf Guide for Australia' has just been published for 2011 and the Port Douglas region has two golf courses in the top 100 Stay and Play section with the Mirage Country club also listed.

Paradise Palms just south of Palm Cove on the Cook highway dropped two places to #37 in the overall Top 100 finest golf courses section and down three spots to #22 in the Stay and Play section but The Sea Temple Golf Club held its 2010 #15 place in the Stay and Play section.

It's easy to see why golf in this region is so popular. When you're not playing golf the Daintree Rainforest and River and the Great Barrier Reef will keep visitors amused and amazed.

It will be interesting to see what happens after the sale of the Sheraton Mirage Resort is finalised.  The Mirage Country Club course which will be part of the sale is a genuine championship course and when the required budget is allocated for repairs and imporvement, it too, will be right back in the top 100 with Paradise Palms and Sea Temple and that will create a masive attraction for the golfers of the world to come and play around in the tropics!
