Habitat to host major party candidates

Voters in the Port Douglas hinterland will have the chance to meet the two major party candidates at a function at the Rainforest Habitat next Thursday evening, 5 August.

The Port Douglas Chamber of Commerce is coordinating the event, with the current Member for Leichhardt, ALP's Jim Turnour, and Liberal National Party candidate, Warren Entsch, guest speakers.

Chamber President, Ken Dobbs, said the format of the evening will be relatively flexible for the candidates. "Essentially they can design their own hour." he said.

"We would expect they would speak (about their campaign) for a time and then take questions from the audience."

Mr Dobbs said it was unfortunate, but due to time constraints Green party and Independent candidates would not be able to attend the evening.

The ticketed event will include time for networking and introductions to the candidates.

Tickets cost $25 for Port Douglas Chamber of Commerce members and guests, and $30 for non-members and are available for <link typo3 tracked>purchase online.

The event will commence at 4.45pm  and enquiries can be made to the Chamber of Commerce Secretary on 0418 738 168 or email secretary@portdouglaschamber.com.au.
