Tax advice for hospitality employees
If you're employed in the hospitality industry then the Australian Taxation Office has released a guide to assist you during tax time (that's now if you weren't aware).
The guide explains the claims you can and can't make by looking at the common expenses you might incur as a hospitality employee. It also includes information about some changes to the tax laws that have happened.
So who is a hospitality employee? According to the ATO they are "chefs (and other cooks), waiters and bartenders." But waitresses don't fear for "Every reference in this guide to the term 'waiter' includes both men and women." Phew!
So claim what you can, while you can. God knows you've earned it!
