Tribute to a tourism pioneer
Stephen Walsh, founder of Jungle Surfing Canopy Tours in Cape Tribulation and an inspiration to all who met him, was tragically killed in a car accident at Cow Bay last Friday morning.
Steve, who was due to celebrate his 50th birthday in just a few weeks, launched Jungle Adventures in 1995 and grew the business into a multi-award winning venture that gave people the opportunity to share his passion for the Daintree Rainforest from a truly unique perspective.
Sheena Walshaw, General Manager of Jungle Surfing Canopy Tours, sent this heartfelt message on behalf of all staff:
“The team at Jungle Surfing Canopy Tours wish to express our gratitude for the messages of love and support following the loss of our inspirational mentor and friend, Stephen John Woodrow Walsh.
Steve’s passion, genius, generosity of spirit, exuberance and irreverence are woven tightly into every aspect of our operation. He was utterly unique, completely irreplaceable and larger than life. We are proud of his extraordinary legacy and will continue to promote and protect his beloved Daintree with his wicked sense of fun and adventure.”
Friends and family are invited to attend a memorial service to celebrate Steve’s life on Saturday, 15 May from 10am to 12 midday at the Cape Restaurant, Cape Tribulation Resort and Spa.
