Huge backlog as airports open again
Airports across Europe and the UK are slowly re-opening as airlines deal with a huge backlog of passengers.
Qantas has said it has no availability on flights to Europe until early May as it tries to clear the backlog. Flights are set to resume tomorrow 9April 22).
Virgin Atlantic confirmed this morning that flights from Sydney to London, via Hong Kong, will resume today (Wed 21st). Emirates is still not accepting Australian passengers for travel to the UK or Germany until at least Fridaybut other destinations in Europe will be unaffected.
Cathay Pacific will not take any new bookings on flights to Europe for departures on or before 10 May. Malaysia Airlines will resume flights to Europe on April 21. Air New Zealand plans to operate seven flights to and from London in the next 24 hours.
