Man charged after assault in Port Douglas

A 38-year-old Yorkeys Knob man was charged by Mossman Detectives yesterday following investigations into an assault at a Macrossan Street bar on October 3.


A Police spokesperson said they will allege the man struck the 49-year-old male victim from behind without warning causing the victim to fall to the ground injuring his knee.

“Police investigations revealed the alleged assault occurred after the victim was involved in a verbal argument with a woman known to the 38-year-old man,” the spokesperson said.

“The victim is required to undergo surgery for his knee injury. 

“The two men were not known to one-another.”

The 38-year-old man was charged with assault occasioning bodily harm. He is scheduled to appear in the Mossman Magistrates Court on December 16.
