Queensland’s top bowlers set to compete in Mossman

Top Queensland bowlers will descend on the Mossman Bowls Club on the weekend to compete in the biggest event the club has ever held.

The Bowls Queensland 2020 North versus South Challenge will see top players from across the state compete in Mossman representing either the north or the south of Queensland.

The event will take place over two days on Saturday 31 October and Sunday 1 November.

Mossman Bowls Club Manager Kevin Rynne said the club was thrilled to be hosting the event.

“The club is extremely excited, this is the biggest bowls event that has ever been held in this area, let alone in Mossman,” he said.

“Forty-eight of the state’s best bowlers will be competing.

“Amongst them are Commonwealth Games gold medal winning bowlers, World Champions and current Australian representative bowlers.

“Essentially it is the cream of the crop of Queensland bowlers coming to Mossman.”

Mr Rynne said organisers had been seeking to hold the event in the Tropical North and Mossman was selected because of its great facilities.

“As well as the attraction of the area for the players themselves, who may want to stay on after the event and explore the Douglas Shire.

“It is expected that many of the visiting players will be staying on to enjoy some time in our beautiful part of the tropical north,” he said.
