All ability improvements slated for Mossman Pool
POOL UPGRADE
There is a bit in the pipeline for the Mossman Pool this year with almost $350,000 worth of improvements earmarked for the precinct in the 2020-21 Annual Budget.
The plans include making the pool an all-abilities facility with Council’s Sports and Recreation Officer, Renee Ker, saying the improvements are earmarked for later this year.
“Changes to include disability access into the pool and a new entrance will make the facilities easier to use for people of all abilities,” she said.
“Those with mobility issues use the pool as a way to exercise without pain or impact, so it is really important to have facilities in which people can get in and out of the pool easily.
“A new face lift to some of the existing facilities will make a big change to the look and feel of the pools facilities.
“We’ll also be creating new picnic-friendly place for families to catch up and cool down during the summer months.”
Landscaping works and improvements to the Caravan Park facilities will also be completed.
The pool offers various programs such as free aqua fitness classes, family-orientated Dive in Movies, Lane Hire and Learn to Swim classes. Additional programs are currently being considered including more aqua fitness classes like SUP Yoga, a mums and bubs club and partnerships with off-season sporting clubs as an alternative training option.
Under Council’s 2020/21 Operational Plan, Council staff will also complete a feasibility study to redevelop the Mossman Pool and Caravan Park.
