Douglas Netball round 11 results and player awards

Douglas Netball was back last week after a mid-year break and competition is as fierce as ever.
Round eleven kicked off with the junior competition, which saw Lightning Strikers and Miallo go head to head with a tight score from start to finish.
Miallo took the win by three defeating Lighting Strikers 13 – 10.
Players’ choices were Sienna Brinklow and Niav Cotter while best and fairest was Gemma Brooks.
The Panthers versed the Young Sapphires and a strong start from the Panthers saw them in the lead at half time.
Strong defence and great shooting from the Sapphires took them to the top, winning 25-19.
Players’ choice went to Hazel Kitto and Niamh Zilfeish and best and fairest was awarded to Saskia Booth.
In the senior competition, in division one, the Young Guns took on Crocs 1 in a hard-fought first half with Crocs 1 unfortunately unable to finish the game, forfeiting at half time.
Players’ choices went to Jorja Harvey and Hiromi Wall while best and fairest was Georgia McCarthy.
In the second division one match, the Cougars went up against Jets 1.
The Jets fought to keep themselves in the game however, in the end, the Cougars were able to outrun them to win 49 – 39.
Players’ choices were Brianna Higgins and Jodi Francis and best and fairest was awarded to Brianna Higgins.
In senior’s division two, the Young Diamonds dominated the court, leading from start to finish, defeating the Crocs 56 – 18.
Players’ choice was Jess Shapter and best and fairest went to Amy Davidson.
The Drifters and Jets 2 match was a fair game, with Jets 2 coming out on top winning 41-22.
Players’ choices were Evie Cotton and Renae Shapter and best and fairest was awarded to Bridgette Mynott.
