RECONCILIATION WEEK 2019

Yesterday marked the beginning of National Reconciliation Week (NRW) which runs annually from 27 May to 3 June.

The 2019 NRW theme is “Grounded in Truth, Walk Together with Courage” with aims to foster positive race relations through relationship must be grounded in a foundation of truth.

William Enoch-Tranby, who works as the Cultural Development Officer for the CaPTA Group, is personifying this ethos.

Mr Enoch-Tranby has recently been selected for the prestigious First Nation Tourism Committee of the Queensland Tourism Industry Council (QTIC), which aims to grow Indigenous tourism in Queensland, telling the true stories and histories of First Nations Peoples.

He said he hoped to bring his knowledge to QTIC to ensure that authentic Indigenous tourism remains a high priority on the Queensland Tourism radar.

“This initiative and committee shows that QTIC are very serious about moving Indigenous tourism along within Queensland, and that this will be an ongoing process,” he said.
