“People welcomed the upgrade to the swimming pool; and the inclusion of the health and wellbeing centre got people excited.
“They believe a revitalised park will be of tremendous benefit to both residents and visitors,” it said.
In August last year, it was announced that a new health and wellbeing centre, heated pool and spectator seating had been drawn up in the draft concept plan, along with an indoor therapy pool, tennis court and children’s outdoor jumping pillow.
Community consultation for the final master plan opened on August 20 and closed on September 30.
“This will be a fantastic opportunity to make a really big splash,” Douglas Shire Mayor Julia Leu said at the time.
“Council is really keen to redevelop this site into a flash multi-purpose recreational precinct, not only for Douglas Shire residents, but for visitors travelling to the region.
“Council will be engaging with a variety of sectors ranging from the medical industry and aged care stakeholders to schools and sporting groups,” said Mayor Leu.
The report will go before Councillors at a date to be determined.
