Man shot by police in Cooktown denied bail
POLICE BRIEF
A 40-year-old Cooktown man has been released from hospital and charged with a number of offences after he was shot by police during an incident earlier this month.
The man was shot by officers who responded to reports of a disturbance at a Savage Street in Cooktown at about 9.45am on December 11.

It will be alleged that on arrival police at the incident, police were confronted and threatened by a man armed with a knife.
The Ethical Standards Command commenced an investigation into the incident which will be overseen by the Crime and Corruption Commission.
Meanwhile, the man has been remanded is custody after leaving hospital today and is facing charges of serious assault of police, acts intended to maim and going armed so as to cause fear.
He is expected to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court tomorrow, Saturday, 29 December, 2018.
