GALLERY | New apartments set for heart of Port Douglas

BUSINESS NEWS

What was once an unassuming shack-like office on 49 Macrossan Street, which for 30 years served as the base for Bloomfield Track Safari (BTS), will soon be transformed into seven luxury apartments and three shops.

And according to David Cotton, Director and Licensee of Raine&Horne Port Douglas, William and Lucy Petrie from England are developing it.

“The development is fully approved with a start date around June 2019 and completion around June 2020,” Mr Cotton said.

Led by architect Roger Mainwood, Laughing Water Apartments will offer private luxury living space with a ‘wow’ factor.

“There will be seven contemporary residential apartments with lift access and will be designed with open plan living spaces and pools, in the heart of Port Douglas,” Mr Cotton said.

“The apartments will have two or three bedrooms, including a Penthouse with a rooftop pool.
“Residents will walk directly off the street through a covered walkway and over their private rainforest bridge to the front door.

“Irrespective of the size of the apartment, each has been meticulously designed to maximise the feeling of light, whilst embracing the tropical style which is so emblematic of Port Douglas.”

Cotton says this is a rare opportunity to purchase a luxury residential apartment on one of the last undeveloped sites in Macrossan Street.
