VIDEO | Grass fire burning in Bonnie Doon

A fire at Bonnie Doon was declared extinguished at 2.20pm this afternoon.

The cause of the fire remains unclear however QFES have confirmed they are not investigating the cause or treating the blaze as suspicious. 

EARLIER

A grass fire is currently burning in Bonnie Doon between Mossman and Port Douglas.


Fire crews were called to the corner of Bonnie Doon Road and Captain Cook Highway at 1.40pm.

There are no properties under threat from the fire at this stage.

An alert from the Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) says smoke from the fire may be affecting residents and motorists in the area.

Residents are advised to keep their windows and doors closed while fire-fighters work to contain the fire.

It is unclear at this stage what has caused the fire to ignite.
