A RECORD number of online voting forms are pouring in for the Douglas Business and Tourism Awards.

More than 2850 forms have been submitted as momentum continues to build towards the gala event on Friday, November 30.

A total of 1845 forms were submitted in 2017.

The unprecedented number could pave the way for up to 50,000 votes being counted for individual businesses across the Douglas Shire.

“Without doubt, we are expecting the biggest awards program in the event’s 10 year history,” said event coordinator Irene Cats.

“We are extremely pleased to see all our region’s businesses pushing their online voting through their social media and online platforms.

“Clearly customers and the business community are getting behind the awards.”

A golden opportunity is still available to snap up an outstanding early bird rate of $1500 for a table of 10, leaving a saving of almost $200 in your pocket.

The early bird special will end this Friday 14 September.

This year’s gala evening at the Sheraton Grand Mirage Port Douglas will feature a ‘Splash of Pink’ theme to raise awareness for KIND (Kinds in Need of Donations) and organisers are inviting guests to donate monies to our regions hardest working charity groups.

Donations can made at the time of purchasing tickets.

The event has become a must-do on the Douglas social calendar.
