Port Douglas favourite QT Resort to be sold

RESORT SALE

As part of an asset review, QT Port Douglas, one of the town’s more popular resorts, has been placed on the market, according to their parent company, Event Hospitality and Entertainment.

In a statement issued to Newsport today, Norman Arundel, Director Hotel Operations, Event Hospitality and Entertainment, said Port Douglas is no longer the right fit.

“While QT Port Douglas has been a much loved part of the QT family, the property is on the market following an asset review.

“Since the opening in 2012 of QT Port Douglas, the QT brand has evolved and for this reason Port Douglas is not the right fit.

“QT Port Douglas is still open for business while on the market. We have not changed the service operating model and we will continue to deliver great guest experiences synonymous with the QT brand,” said Arundel.

In a bizarre turn of events QT Port Douglas, meanwhile, has been subjected to a scathing attack in a news.com.au article referring to the property as “being unclean, a cheap run-down motel, falling apart and having bad service.”

Responding to the report, Arundel challenged the criticism saying QT guests do have a quality experience based on TripAdvisor scores.

“The majority of guests at QT Port Douglas have a great experience, as witnessed by our 4 out of 5 TripAdvisor score and the positive comments we receive.

“However, we are always sorry to hear that some guests have been disappointed. We resolve customer concerns generously, where guests have had an unsatisfactory experience.

“We also encourage our guests to share their feedback directly with us so that we can address their concerns immediately,” he said.
