Crystalbrook Collection announce first general manager

CRYSTALBROOK Collection has appointed Joel Gordon as new GM and area manager for its hotel ventures in Far North Queensland.
Syrian billionaire Ghassan Aboud’s group will open the first of three hotels - Riley - in Cairns later this year.
Gordon will fill the General Manager role for Riley and will also be responsible for the opening and operating of Crystalbrook Collection’s second and third hotels, Bailey and Flynn, which will open in 2019 and 2020 respectively.
He will oversee a team of more than 500 people across the three hotels. Crystalbrook Collection also plan to redevelop the Port Douglas marina in a project worth more than $200 million.

“I am excited by the potential and growth of Crystalbrook Collection,” Gordon said.
“I’m looking forward to successfully opening each of these multi-million dollar projects and delivering to Cairns best-in-class luxury accommodation.”
Crystalbrook Collection’s Director, Hotels Geoff York said it was a ‘very positive time’ for the group.
“The appointment of our first General Manager is another milestone for the company,” he said.
“With Joel’s past experience opening and operating great hotels, we’re thrilled to have him leading our Cairns team.”
Joel has extensive hospitality experience throughout Australia, working in senior positions with Palazzo Versace, Event Hospitality and Entertainment (Rydges and Atura) and Accor (Sofitel).
Most recently Joel was the Hotels General Manager of Doma Group’s Hotel Realm and Burbury Hotel & Apartments.
