Small crocodile found inside stinger net

FOUR Mile Beach is expected to reopen on Monday morning after a small crocodile was found inside the stinger net today.

The Port Douglas beach was closed after a one metre saltwater crocodile was spotted by lifeguards inside the net at around 8am.

It remained inside the enclosure until wildlife officers from the Department of Environment and Heritage Protection arrived to assist with its removal. The reptile then eventually made its own way over the boom and back out to sea at 1pm.

It comes 10 days after a crocodile was also filmed swimming inside the stinger net at Palm Cove.

The saltwater crocodile was first spotted at 8am this morning by a Port Douglas lifeguard on patrol. The beach has been closed all day. IMAGE: Rosie Wang.
