PORT Douglas can’t lose top spot heading into its final home game of the AFL Cairns season tomorrow.

The Crocs will take on North Cairns at the impenetrable Port Douglas Sporting Complex safe in the knowledge they’ve booked a double chance, and likely second semi-final meeting with Centrals Trinity Beach.

The Bulldogs can all but sew up second spot with a win over South Cairns tomorrow at Crathern Park, setting up an anticipated September clash with Port in three weeks.

Port Douglas is fresh off a bye and another crushing 121-point win over Cairns Saints at the Croc Pit. They appear destined to head into the finals undefeated and should impose a similar result against the sixth placed Tigers tomorrow.

The most interesting sub-plot in the run to the finals is if captain Kye Chapple can register another ton, which would be his third straight in the AFL Cairns competition.

He sits on 86 goals with three home-and-away games remaining and would be keen to tick off the milestone before September.
