Queensland’s going coco over Julatten-based company

LOCAL SUCCESS

BEACH Harvest, a Julatten-based company turning coconuts into snack foods, is fast-becoming a hit across the state with owners Jesse and Casey Willetts fielding countless calls from people wanting to learn more.

“How did you hear about us?” was Casey’s first question when contacted by Newsport. It’s a fair question and if she’s done her marketing right, the phone will continue to ring off the hook.

For the family of five, it was a case of wanting to get more coconut into the family diet.

“We wanted affordable, healthy, organic Australian coconuts, without the nasty chemicals and preservatives. Luckily, we didn't have to look far. Coconuts love the tropics and we live in the tropics,” said Casey.

Their signature product is Coconut Chips which have proven to be extremely popular.

“We love making our Coconut Chips because kids love them. They are healthy snacks, great for lunch boxes, and so much more.

“We also enjoy providing whole, mature coconuts to our Australian customers. We believe that coconuts should be guilty-free and fear-free, so there are no concerns about chemicals or preservatives.

“The health benefits of coconuts are incredible. It's great to use whole coconuts to make your own products, or to simply eat it raw in yoghurt, curries, or salads,” she said.

Casey said they are aware of dietary restrictions and the trend to eat cleaner and healthier. To meet this demand, they cater towards Paleo, gluten-free, vegan, dairy-free, soy-free, nut-free, grain-free, diabetic, and raw coconut lovers.

Their coconuts are organically grown and harvested from public and private land, and the ingredients are also local.

So what’s next?

“Coconut jerky is what we’re looking at with a smoky maple flavour. Could be a hit!”
