Junior Crocs rub shoulders with their senior stars

JUNIOR FOOTY

A GREAT weekend was had at the Croc Pit that started on Thursday night with all players, both seniors and juniors, training together.

The junior Crocs enjoyed their time with the seniors and were very keen and willing to show off their skills. Dinner after training was devoured by the hungry Crocs who went into overtime to impress their senior players.

Friday night was Under 15’s and Colts time to show the club how much they had improved and received great support from some of the senior players.

Saturday began early with the remainder of the juniors playing in perfect conditions as curtain raisers to Pink in the Tropics match. Kenny the Croc headed to the Central Hotel and thanks to the Centrals generous Patrons and our Sponsors we were able to donate $300 to the Pink in the Tropics Breast Cancer Fund. The juniors and their families then stayed on to watch the reserves and seniors play some skilful, fast and exiting football.

Including the juniors in this excellent week raising awareness for breast cancer, was a great initiative by the club and will be remembered by all who attended for years to come. The foundations have been set and the Crocs continue to grow into the best family club in North Queensland.

UNDER 8:
Crocs Navy v Cairns Saints Black
The under 8 Navy kicked off the pink in the tropic Saturday game at the Croc Pit. It was a good even contest against Saint black with everyone competing well and showing real improvement and team play. It was great to see Koen receive a handball from team mate Finn and Koen kicking his first goal in Croc colours! Well done boys. Hope all the mum's had a great Mother's Day!

Goal kickers: Kobe, Finn, Koen and Cooper.
Players of the week: Angus, Harper, Koen and Finn.

Crocs White v Cairns Saints Red
In front of a strong home crowd the coach set the players a goal of spreading out and screaming for the ball when the crocs were in possession. This had been practised at training and on game day resulted in the Crocs kicking 6 goals and playing what was definitely the best game of their season so far. Play of the day was Cadel roving the ball out of the centre bounce and booting to Kirra in space who booted her first goal of the season. The next bounce was an exact replica with Satchin this time on the receiving end of a Cadel bomb and booting his first goal for the season.

Goal kickers: Arlo Jones, Arlo Miller, Aaron, Raife, Satchin and Kirra
Players of the week: Kirra, Satchin, Arlo Miller, Satchin and Arlo Jones

UNDER 9:
Crocs v Cairns Saints
The under 9's pink in the tropic Saturday game was played against a tough Saints opposition. The 9's were missing a number of players this week. It was good to see everyone including under 8's Finn, Cooper Knack and Kobe put in a solid effort and not give up. A strong performance from Cooper Olsen, Campbell and Michael got themselves player of the day awards.

Goal kickers: were Michael, Cooper Glass, Cash, Cooper Olsen, Kobie and Finn.

Thanks to all the juniors and families that stayed throughout the day and supported the reserves and seniors.

UNDER 11:
Crocs v Cairns Saints
U11s played against the Saints whose lovely gentle giant Harvey was pretty much a team unto himself. The Crocs struggled to compete with goals and points against Harvey, but a variety of quickly adaptive team strategies helped keep the Saints' score to a minimum. Streaks of graceful athleticism combined with quick snaps of opportunity from Thero achieved the teams solo goal and his Player of the Day award. Solomon also received a Player of the Day award, with further prizes to Blake and Harry for a great effort today.
