X Factor stars to headline free Christmas extravaganza in Mossman

XMAS IN MOSSMAN

THIS year’s free Mossman Christmas in the Park & Carols By Candelight celebrations will feature X Factor stars, face painting, rides and entertainment as well as a dazzling fireworks extravaganza.

Organisers from the Douglas Theatre Arts Group have created an amazing line-up of entertainment for the Christmas in the Park & Carols By Candlelight celebrations, which will be held at the Mossman Showgrounds from 3pm on Saturday 10 December.

DTAG President and Douglas Shire Councillor Michael Kerr promised an entertainment extravaganza headlined by X Factors stars Georgia Denton and Andrew Lawson. Sea FM’s Mark and Juanita will host the Carols By Candlelight evening, with the concert starting at 6.30pm and the fireworks display from 9pm.

“We’ve also got performances planned from our wonderful Douglas Theatre Arts Group team as well as the Mossman High School Band and other talented local musicians,” Kerr said.

“We’re urging everyone to come along early to enjoy the free Christmas in the Park celebrations from 3pm, which includes a lolly drop at 4pm, heaps of children’s entertainment including face painting and a jumping castle and of course kids can get their photo taken with Santa.

“This is DTAG’s first year of organising this event and we’re very excited, there will also be market stalls with some great ideas for Christmas gifts and delicious food on offer.

“We would really like to thank Douglas Shire Council and also the many local businesses for their support.”

Organisers are keen to hear from any prospective stallholders who may wish to participate at no cost. No stall market fees will be charged for this event; however donations to the Mayor’s Christmas Appeal will be greatly appreciated.

Donations of $2 and over are Tax Deductible and all proceeds go towards buying grocery hampers for local families in need.

“Douglas Theatre Arts Group have done an absolutely amazing job securing a wonderful array of local and national talent as well as local sponsors who are generously supporting this exciting event,” Mayor Julia Leu said.

“In keeping with this festive, community event, we would love to see a diverse range of local stallholders too.”

More information can be found on the Mayor’s Christmas Appeal and the Donation form or at Council’s Mossman Administration Office.

Stall Nomination Forms are available at Douglas Shire's website and are required by 4.30pm this Monday 14 November 2016.
