Tutavake golf fundraiser exceeds all expectations

The Danny Tutavake golf fundraiser has exceeded all expectations and organiser Adam Calcraft has promised this will not be a one-off event.

“I was blown away how quickly the tee times were snapped up and we have 18 foursomes (72 golfers) which is ideal. We have a sponsor for each hole and I am grateful for everyone involved,” said Calcraft.

The tournament is being held on Friday July 1 at Sheraton Mirage followed by a luncheon for 250 people to support Danny Tutavale, who was tragically injured while playing rugby.

In June 2015 Danny Tutavake, a 20-year-old Rugby Union player from the Innisfail Vikings suffered a life shattering spinal injury in a game against the Penryhn Sharks.

Danny was left a paraplegic following the spinal damage and now has limited movement in his lower and upper body. Danny was known to be fearless on the field; was always a club favourite; and very well respected amongst his teammates. Danny, his wife and two little girls, as well as his extended family have a long road ahead in his recovery.

“I do not want this to be a one-off. The support has been incredible and I would like to stay in touch with those who have supported us,” said Calcraft.

“I am also delighted that former Wallabies Bill Calcraft and Troy Jaques and sevens player Barry Lea have agreed to attend the day, and another Wallaby Gary Pearse will be the MC. This will mean a great deal to Danny.”
