RESIDENTS and visitors alike will get the opportunity to experience a range of local products with the return of the Palm Cove Markets on Williams Esplanade this weekend.
The monthly beachside markets will be held for the first time on Sunday April 3 from 8am to 2pm.
The markets will operate on the first Sunday of the month from April to December, with exceptions in September and October because of the Carnival on Collins and Reef Feast.
About 150 stalls will offer a range of local products, including handmade jewellery, leather work, pottery, clothes, skincare and food. There will be a jumping castle, crazy golf and other free activities for children.
Williams Esplanade will be closed to traffic between Harpa Street and Cedar Road, with parking available on Triton Street. A hail-and-ride bus service will operate from Harpa Street.
Mayor Bob Manning said the markets add a lively element to the already vibrant Palm Cove foreshore strip.
“Markets are a great way to showcase local products and art while enjoying the beautiful surrounds of Palm Cove,” Manning said.
“I hope locals and visitors will take the opportunity to experience and support these fantastic markets.”
The Sunday markets were first trialled last year and subsequent public consultation demonstrated strong support for the format.
