With the excitement around the ground after the Muddies C Grade winning by outright the B Grade lads were pretty pumped.

Heading into day two after declaring 9/204 and having the boys from the hills Atherton 1/16 overnight, the Astute Financial Muddies set out on their mission to rip Atherton apart.

Captain Grumpy was back after a couple of quite weeks starting of the day with the good Guy Redfern and straight away the boys were hitting their lines.

Redfern (2/24 of 13 overs) got the first break through of the day slipping one past the bat hitting off stump and then two overs later removing the other opener to a good catch by Bmac Cody behind the stumps.

Kaidon Sorenson bowled some fantastic line and length bowling and was rewarded with figures of 3/22 of 13 could have been 4 if the good guy (Griffo) and the slips Cordon weren’t talking about things that cannot be put in a newspaper.

Benny V was bought into the attack and it didn’t take long for the ex-skipper to produce the goods. Benny (CH) bowled some pretty good heat bullying the Atherton batsman and ended with figures of 4/12 of 7. Deep was the other wicket taker finishing with 1/4 of 4 and the Muddies rolling Atherton for 85.

It didn’t take long for Captain Grumpy Adam (Bobby) Lucas to force the follow-on and send the Atherton lads back into bat. With a changed batting line up things got of a little shaky for the Muddies with a few missed chances which had Captain Grumpy seeing red turning into Captain Agro and getting a nice little talking to by the Umpire.

The lads went into the drinks break with fire in there belly’s and came back out a new team. Captain Positive made his well needed appearance and it took just two overs after the drinks break to get the first then second much needed wickets with The Good Guy Redfern claiming two wickets in two balls.

The Atherton lads trying to waste as much time as possible at 2/48 the Muddies ripped into 5th gear taking the next six wickets for just 27 runs before the slowest walk onto the ground happened. With the Atherton number 9 batsman taking his time in a deliberate time wasting tactic that even with some polite encouragement by Dan Harris and Dan Redfern he didn’t seem to hurry up. But two balls later after he was bowled by Captain Grumpy he received  some more encouragement from 11 Muddies.

In the end due to some time wasting the Muddies ended up missing out on the outright by one wicket. Best of the bowlers A Lucas 4/29 of 11, D Redfern 2/14 of 9, Benny V 2/2 of 4 and deep 1/19 of 8.

One Dayer this week against North’s at home should be a cracker so come on down and support your local Muddies in what should be another victory for the crabs.
