A triple win for QT Hotels & Resorts at HM Awards

QT Hotels & Resorts swept up at the 2015 HM Awards and also announce expansion into the international market.

With the recently appointed general manager Rupert Sakora at the helm of QT Port Douglas, the win appears to be good timing.

“I love the fact that I will be putting my individual stamp on the hotel culture, service and product in the hotel. I’m excited about getting to know this area’s market and how QT Port Douglas fits in; but mostly I’m pumped about getting involved in the local community,” said Mr Sakora.

In front of a record crowd with over 600 hoteliers and industry leaders, QT Hotels & Resorts celebrated a triple win at the prestigious HM Awards in Sydney on Friday night for the second consecutive year.

Now in its 13th year, the HM Awards for Hotel & Accommodation Excellence are the leading awards for the accommodation industry in Australia, New Zealand and the Asia Pacific region, recognising exceptional achievement.

Held at the respected Town Hall and hosted by Lisa Wilkinson, QT Hotels & Resorts was nominated for an impressive 11 awards with QT Sydney affirming itself as the ‘jewel in the QT Crown’ by taking home awards for ‘Best Hotel Interior Design’ and ‘Best Hotel Bar’ (Gowings Bar). Topping it off for the designer hotel brand, QT Hotels & Resorts was awarded ‘Best Hotel Brand’ – an outstanding achievement for the brand recognised by its distinctive sense of quirk, fun and unique design philosophy.

“We are thrilled and honoured to receive these awards, especially at such a recognised and well- respected industry event,” said David Seargeant, the founder of QT Hotels & Resort and AHL Group Managing Director, who was inducted into the HM Awards Hall of Fame in 2014.

“We strive to ensure the highest levels of service and the most memorable experience through cutting-edge design, art, music and food, and to have this officially acknowledged means a great deal for the QT team.”

QT Hotels & Resorts first put its stamp on the Australian tourism sector with the launch of QT Gold Coast in 2011. The unique and exciting property delivered the first injection of QT’s signature designer spaces with bold entertainment and intriguing yet relaxing guest experience. Now one of

Australia’s most loved and dynamic hotel brands, the family of properties include QT Gold Coast, QT Port Douglas, the flagship QT Sydney, QT Falls Creek and QT Canberra.

Adding to its portfolio of stunning boutique hotels and resorts, QT is set for expansion with new properties to open in the next year, including QT Bondi, QT Melbourne and QT Wellington – this marks QT’s first international property.
