The Douglas United Dragons have ensured they maintained a perfect home record this season with a 12-1 demolition job of Dimbulah at Cassowary Park on Friday night.
Six goals in each half ensured that the Dragons would cruise to victory with the only blot on the copybook the comical late goal conceded due to a mix up between keeper and defender.

The match started with the Dragons controlling possession with very little resistance from Dimbulah although the away side was able to keep the Dragons at bay for the opening fifteen minutes or so. Once they were breached though four goals followed in the space of three minutes. Simon Fawcett opened the scoring on the end of a lovely move and a superb Joe Bownes cross. Then fox in the box, Nathan Sayed scored with a header that bamboozled ex-Dragon Kevvie Hann with its lack of pace to nestle in the back of the net. Almost immediately after Joe Bownes’ wayward cross floated over Kev’s head and found the back of the net. The final goal of the initial flurry came when Fawcett notched his second of the half.

Dimbulah rallied at this point and were able to stem the bleeding for a time before another good team move resulted in Tom Seaton scoring a placed shot before Fawcett wrapped up his hat trick with an individual run and finish. This made the halftime score 6-0 with the Dragons in complete control.

The second half saw more of the same from Dragons, controlling the ball and the tempo just as in the first half. There was a second goal from Nathan Sayed, finally a goal for Logan Marsh who turned in Chris Baker’s excellent cross for his first of the season. Simon Fawcett was on the scoresheet again to make it four for the match and all three substitutes, Dan Ferrero, Sam Neale and Matty Smith all found the back of the net.

The Paddy’s Bar Man of the Match went to Chris Baker who had an excellent game at right back with a number of wonderful crosses throughout the match and was unlucky not to cap his performance with a goal of his own. Next week the Dragons travel to Redlynch in their final game before a major semi final against Atherton at Cassowary Park the following Friday.
