Pre-season training has begun for the Port Douglas Cricket Club who return with a new and extended Committee.

After six years as President, Steve Doble is now taking on the role of sponsorship manager.  The new committee members are:

President - Ben Vikionkorpi
Secretary - Darren Hussey
Senior Vice President - Dan Redfern
Junior Vice President - Noel Twomey
Treasurer - Darren Killieen

The club junior teams are under 12s, 14s and 16s.  The senior teams are  2nd and 3rd grades.

“Our aim is to get into 1st grade but we want to focus on a strong junior team base and get them interested in the game and bring them through the club,” said Secretary Darren Hussey.

The club have introduced two new committee roles Senior Vice President and Junior Vice President.  Their roles will be to talk to junior and senior coaches and co-ordinate the needs of the respective teams.

Throughout August pre-season training is held on Wednesdays at 4:30pm till dark and Sundays 10:30am to 12:30pm.

From September the pre-season training will be Tuesdays and Thursday at 4:30pm till dark.  The seasons starts the beginning of October.

Sign up day will be held on Saturday 5th September from 10:00am to 12:00pm.
