In quirky QT style, Sunday August 9th will see the resort’s Estilo Bar host an exclusive performance from one of the most talked about Australian musicians of the moment. And did we mention he was local...?

Mikhail Laxton, also known by his stage name Black Indie, is an Indigenous singer/songwriter.  Raised in Mossman, Mikhail grew up fishing and playing rugby but was drawn to music like his dad and uncle before him.

Currently on tour celebrating his recent performance on Channel 9’s ‘The Voice’, Mikhail Laxton, known by his stage name Black Indie, is an extraordinary performer who harnesses a unique mixture of genres to create achingly raw, yet soulful blend of tunes. Hailing from Mossman, by the time Mikhail was 18 years old, singing and song writing had become a passion; his appearance on the 2015 season of ‘The Voice’ impressed the judges and audience so much he not only progressed through several rounds, but brought Australia to tears with a performance of his intimate and original song dedicated to his partner.

From 5pm cocktail bar Estilo will host Black Indie’s gig, supported by local songstress, Tee Ketu. Guests can expect an entertaining evening of sexy smooth vocals, soulful original tunes and twists on classic tracks from artists including Amy Winehouse and Christine Anu. QT will also be running it’s BBQ menu and refreshing cocktail selection designed by the talented restaurant and bar teams at QT Port Douglas resort.
