The Douglas United Dragons traveled to Dimbulah on Friday night focused on not only ensuring three points and remain unbeaten in 1st Division, but to also set the tone for a good performance in the Semi final of the FNQ Cup to be played on Tuesday against Edghilll.
Despite having a couple of players unavailable the Dragons started with a very strong line-up, and took control of the game from the outset. Within the first ten minutes the game was effectively over as a contest as the Dragons had kept possession and linked very well scoring three goals in the process.
The Dragons continued to pressure, and it wasn’t long before the Dimbulah Barras were struggling to get possession out of their half, and Douglas made them pay with seven different goalscorer before half time.
Goals to Dan Ferrero, Sam Neale, Luke Seaton, Simon Fawcett, Tom Seaton, Nathan Sayed and Andy Warburton meant a half time team talk was about setting good standards, and keeping to them.
To the Dimbulah Barra’s credit, they had a tactical reshuffle, and defensively were much improved in the second half, much to the frustration of Douglas United. Despite again controlling possession, and creating plenty of chances, coupled with some inspired goalkeeping, the Dragons couldn’t add to their half time score, and had to be happy with a 7-0 win away from home to make it fourteen league wins on in a row.
Paddy’s Man of the Match went to Tom Seaton for a very assured performance in the middle of the park.
