Douglas netball resumes after school break

Douglas netball resumed last Tuesday after the school holiday break.  

Division 5 began with the Young Comets playing the Port Coconuts, the Coconuts started with a 3 goal nil first quarter, but the Comets streaked ahead over the next 2 quarters taking the game 7-5 with best players Emily Donohue, Sofia Cullen, Emily Brown and Emma Brown.  

The Young Stars played Blue Lightning. Douglas netball welcomes Myah and Kayla Jaffah joining us from Dubai for the month. The Stars shone for the first 3 quarters Lightning struck back in the last quarter but the Comets took the win 4-1 with best players Bayahn Astom-Dilon, Dakota Bland, Claire Deuble and Hazel Kitto.

Division 4 played the Pythons against the Young Diamonds, the little Diamonds put up some great defence but the Pythons ran away with the win 19-2 with best players Logan Buzza, Courtney Geddes , Phoebe Cambieras and TTCadiente.

The Sapphires played the Gems, the Sapphires put in a sparkling performance winning 30-3 with best players Melissa, Emma Vizard , Jorja Harvey and Ava Shearer.

The Seniors Division 2 played Aftershock against Spot On in a great game especially by the young Aftershock team, the girls showed some fantastic plays over the court with good timing.  Spot On still too good on the night final score 33-24 with best and fairest Kaleesha Savage.

The Gunnars played Rattle 2, Rattle strong over the court from the first siren taking the win 34-25 with best & fairest Jo De Riva.  Young Guns 2 played Stingers Guns had a strong first half, but the Stingers are improving by the week, they won the second half but not the game. Final score 31-26 to Guns 2 with best & fairest Jenna Kerswell.  

Young Guns 3 played Crocs 2, the game was a pleasure to watch, Guns 3 the stronger team on the night but the Crocs played  a very good game and great comraderie by both teams.  Final score 51-27 with best & fairesy Kelly Padovan.  

The final Div. 2 game was forfeited by Tiddas, Strikers with the points.

Division 1 played the Cougars against Dynamite, Cougars scored strongly for the first 2 quarters, Dynamite matched them in the 3rd quarter just not enough by the final siren. Cougars by 10, 41-31 with best & fsirest Michelle Teasdale.

Twenty 20 played Young Guns 1, Twenty 20 were down players but enjoyed the game, Young Guns with the win 75-12 with best & fairest Shanti Wren.  Rattle 1 played Crocs 1, 10 all in the first quarter but the Crocs snapped into gear and won the next 3 quarters. Final score 47-29 with best & fairest Melissa Mussett.

It is appreciated if support staff, parents and helpers would purchase the polos when representing Douglas at carnivals and representative netball.
