Is Port Douglas going Trippo?

Since its birth from a shipping container 2 weeks ago, a number of things have come to mind driving past the monstrous octopus like super slide in Reynolds Park.
The thought of sending the kids back to school having not been on it, was beginning to get the better of me. My feeble attempts in taking Port Street down past the marina to avoid 'the question' was drawing thin.
So last weekend on some pretty solid feedback we ventured in to what can only be described as a 'temporary' set up. And although the 1.8m crowd control fencing removed any charm from the initial experience, this became pretty insignificant as the race to get back around to the remarkable inflatable ladder was on.
And it was on!
The 11 metre slide ensured a high pitch exhale of air or squeal was heard, as one by one we leaped onto the giant tongue of the monster. Unfortunately I was told by the junior attendant that mine was a little louder than most of the others!
With only 30-40 people when we were there, lines were quick and friendly.
Although the sound that best describes the feeling of flying down a waterslide is one we'd prefer not to associate with public pools or water ways, it was clear that Trippo was a well spent $75 bucks for a couple of hours fun during school holidays.
Being in Port for almost 20 years and coming from Australia's waterslide capital, the Gold Coast, the Trippo experience was welcomed by our family.
In this location? And for how long? I'm not sure but the Council is currently deliberating over the future of Trippo in the Shire I am told.
What did you think of the Trippo experience? Good, bad or indifferent?
Will we be the home of the World's Largest Inflatable Waterslide?
