More than 350 years of service to the community has been recognised at Douglas Shire Council.
Mayor Julia Leu yesterday presented certificates to 28 Douglas Shire Council staff in recognition of their 10, 15, 20 and 25-year career milestones.
The staff members have collectively contributed more than 360 years to Council in roles as diverse as team leaders, gangers, planning and administration officers, plant operators and labourers.
Mayor Julia Leu said the Douglas Shire benefited greatly by having such a committed and passionate Council workforce.
“The Douglas Shire is blessed with not just a spectacular natural environment, but a very dedicated Council team committed to doing its best for our communities,” Mayor Leu said.
“These valued staff members have experienced so much in their careers and endured first amalgamation and then de-amalgamation and their knowledge and expertise has been invaluable in establishing the new Douglas.
“On behalf of Council, I would like to sincerely thank them for all of their hard work and commitment over many years and express our gratitude for their valued input to all facets of Council activities.”
CEO Linda Cardew echoed Mayor Leu’s sentiments in congratulating the 28 staff members on reaching their career milestones.
“It is a privilege to lead an organisation filled with people who are so passionate about the work they do for their communities,” Ms Cardew said.
