What's changed for Ironman on the weekend?

The Cairns Airport Adventure Festival is in full swing with this past weekend kicking it all off with the RRR Mountain Bike event, the Heikili Ocean Challenge and the Coral Coast Triathlon - all finishing on Four Mile Beach.
This Sunday 14th marks the end of the Cairns Airport Adventure Festival with the Cairns Ironman and 70.3 events. While both events start in Palm Cove, cyclists in the full Ironman will complete two laps into Macrossan Street before heading back to Cairns to complete the 42.2km run leg. Make sure you come out and show your support as there are many locals competing on the day and they'd love to hear you cheer!

SUNDAY JUNE 14: Cairns Airport Ironman Cairns - How will it affect you?
Access within Port Douglas will be open at all stages of the day. As the use of public roads is required, changed traffic conditions and clearways must be enforced to ensure the safety of participants and volunteers. When planning your travel arrangements please ensure you leave plenty of time as traffic delays may occur.
MACROSSAN ST
The Central Hotel on Macrossan St will feature as a Cairns Airport LIVE SITE with a big screen, a sports commentator and music on the Cairns Airport IRONMAN Cairns cycle course. Join the crowds to cheer on over 1500 cyclists as they do two laps on the bike into Port Douglas.
All businesses and restaurants will be open as usual on Sunday 14 June.
PORT DOUGLAS MARKETS
Are on every Sunday from 8.00am. These will continue to operate as normal on Sunday 14 June.
COLES EXPRESS SERVICE STATION
Business as usual with access to the station available all day via the northern entry.
BUS OPERATORS TO CAIRNS
Will still run on Sunday14 June via the Mulligan Hwy and Kennedy Hwy and event organisers will assist where possible to ensure they move through Port Douglas as quickly as possible. Patrons are asked to allow 5-51/2 hours to get to Cairns on this day if travelling the alternate route.
CHASE THE RACE - Boat Transfers between Port Douglas & Cairns
Looking for a unique way to travel between Cairns and Port Douglas on race day? You can also 'Chase the Race' and watch your Cairns Airport Ironman Cairns athlete at the Port Douglas cycle turn and be part of the action. Most Importantly - GET INVOLVED!!!
Don't miss your chance to cheer on the warriors of IRONMAN triathlon as they do battle in the Cairns Airport IRONMAN Cairns. Athletes will tackle a 3.8km swim, 180km cycle, followed by a gruelling 42.2km run.
Event organisers encourage locals and tourists to get involved and join the action at the cycle turn and Cairns Airport Live Site at Macrossan St or line the streets of Port Douglas and cheer as they cycle into town.
