QT Port Douglas, unplugged for change
QT, unplugged for change
Monday March 16 2015, 3:50pm
QT Port Douglas will plunge into darkness for Earth Hour 2015 Saturday 28 March. In a show of support for the Australian food and farming, and to demonstrate an #appetiteforchange QT is pulling all stops for Earth Hour.
Hosting the resort’s second annual “Unplugged” gig at Estilo, guests and locals alike will enjoy an intimate, candlelit gig by one of the Far North’s most popular local acts, The Kroovs. The event begins at 7pm, with official lights out at 8:30pm (local time) for Earth Hour.
In 2015, Earth Hour in Australia will celebrate Aussie food and farmers, reminding Australians of the need to tackle global warming for the sake of our rural communities and our supply of fresh, healthy, home-grown food.
“QT Port Douglas are huge supporters of local farmers and food producers, which is why getting behind Earth Hour 2015 was so important to us”, says Emily Byrne, QT Port Douglas PR and Events Coordinator.
“Alongside our own on-site herb and vegetable garden, QT strives to always source our food produce from local suppliers, be it tropical fruit and vegetables from Scomazzon’s in Mossman, locally-grown and house-smoked bacon from Cleall’s Butcher in Mareeba, to the fantastic fresh seafood ‘off the back deck’ at the Marina".
"By supporting Earth Hour 2015 we are making a commitment to our local farmers and food producers, and demonstrating our appetite for change”.
On March 28th QT Port Douglas will be requesting in-house guests turn off all in-room lighting, air-conditioning and electrical items to join the local community and staff in Estilo from 7pm, as The Kroovs kick off a night of celebration of Aussie food and farmers.
Between 8:30pm and 9:30pm The Kroovs will go ‘unplugged’ and it will be lights out for the resort, which will limit common-area use of electricity to essential purposes only, where safe to do so. The resort is encouraging guests to BYO candles and battery operated light sources to enjoy an evening’s entertainment, and is offering a $10 wood-fired pizza menu that showcases local Australian produce at its finest.
QT Port Douglas is a unique designer resort that celebrates an eclectic design environment and bold entertainment to create an intriguing yet relaxing guest experience. A beacon for design, art, style and luxury, QT Port Douglas resort has been operational since May 2012, has since positioned itself as the Far North’s very own purveyors of fun, leaders of style and masters of indulgence.
