Watched on from the training nets by young Astute Financial Muddies – Jack Carr, Scott Cooper and Fraser and with thunder rolling and lightning strikes behind Mowbray, the Muddies entered the Mud Pit to take on travelling Innisfail last Sunday afternoon.

Muddies won the toss and elected to bat in the thirty overs a side one day match undeterred by the potentially deteriorating conditions, sending in Taylor and Darlington, the latter in a form slump lasted just three balls to bring Ged the Pom to the crease in his last game.

Taylor (6) pushed around a couple of singles and twos before being caught and when Tom Goodall was bowled soon after Muddies were scoring at three an over but had lost three top batsmen 3/27 in the 8th over.

Bowling reasonably well Innisfail gained some movement in the air and the pitch was keeping just a little low, so Doble and Ged decided that turning the strike was essential to not getting bogged down.

They did this once too often pushing quick singles to aged fielders, Ged running himself out for 12 off 29 deliveries. Darren Wall took up the same game plan before losing the skipper to a top edge sweepshot caught for 16 off 21 deliveries. Schiesser broke in his new bat with four singles off 5 balls but admitted he was then plumb LBW, Muddies 6/64.

Enter Redderz who has always looked like a batsman but lacking in any required luck and perhaps some self belief. Perhaps his new $4.50 batting inners were the secret as he hit cleanly to the outfield offering consistent singles, twos and boundaries, top scoring with 25.
