The Douglas Shire Historical Society in tandem with the Mossman RSL sub-brach, are busy preparing a permanent display on two touchscreens to be unveiled as part of the ANZAC Day centenary celebrations in April 2015.

The Douglas Shire Historical Society is busy preparing a permanent display on two touch screens to be unveiled as part of the ANZAC centenary celebrations, in April 2015.

The pictures show DSHS member 1) Belinda Peters recording a letter written by a wife concerning her soldier husband and 2) Noel Weare recording a letter written by a father concerning his soldier son.

The readings will be used as voice-overs in the display.

Other people in the pictures are project designer Mike Stent and media liaison for the Society Pam Willis Burden. 

The filming is taking place in the premises of the Mossman RSL Sub-branch and also feature video interviews with Diggers’ descendants Bill Collie, Sev Andreassen, Jocelyn White, Dick Coulthard and Bernie Jack.

Project manager Ken Keith and Historical Society president Noel Weare are still looking for other descendants of soldiers who enlisted from our Shire and who have stories and photos of their relatives.

This project was funded by a Queensland Government Anzac Centenary grant.
