The team at Salsa Bar and Grill Port Douglas is celebrating after picking up a national-level award.
The seaside restaurant on Wharf Street picked up Best Restaurant Caterer in Savour Australia Restaurant And Catering’s HotPLUS Awards for excellence, also placing as a finalist for Caterer of the Year.
The national award, a first for the restaurant, follows a win in state-level awards for the same category.
Owner and head chef Bill Conway said the win came as a result of a team effort and dedication to quality across the board, particularly in catering for Port Douglas’s booming wedding industry.
“It’s been a great team effort, I think it’s not just good for the restaurant but good for the town,” Mr Conway said.
“In the last five or six years weddings have really taken off in Port Douglas, they are a major part of our season. On top of that we have great ocean views and obviously the views of the church make it very memorable,” Mr Conway said, referencing St Mary’s By the Sea.
“I just want to say ‘great work’ to everyone in the team and as for the future, it will be business as usual - we will keep doing the hard work and creating a good experience for our customers.”
