A crocodile suspected to have killed several pets has been caught in a trap in Reef Park lake in Port Douglas.

Residents reported the croc in the trap at about 10:30 this morning.

Two dogs and a cat have disappeared around the lake in the past three months with crocodile attacks suspected as the likely cause, and a crocodile was found several times on a resident’s lawn multiple times.

A Great Eastern Egret was also reported being taken by a crocodile on the lake some time ago.

New signs have been added to the lake highlighting recent crocodile activity.

Newsport understands that Department of Environment and Heritage Protection wildlife control officers have been notified and are on their way to remove the crocodile and will update this story with fresh information and photos when they come to hand.
