Douglas Junior netball started this week with the 10/Under competition on court 1 with the Little Saints playing the Young Comets.

The game was fiercely contested, with the Little Saints intercepting and creating turnovers but failing to match the Young Comets on the score board.

The Comets took the game 9-0 with best players Emma Brown, Michela Nisbet and Ruby Woods.

The Young Stars played Pink Lightning who were hot to trot playing great netball.

The Stars didn't get a score on the board which did not show the effort put in through the game.

Final score was 12-0 to the Lightning with best players Mercedes Ramsey & Kristen Fasano.

 

The 12/Under competition played the Young Gems against the Pythons.

The Gems played a fantastic defensive game with plenty of intercepts but the Pythons kept to their game plan and took the game 16-4 with best players Taleisha Carswell, Logan Buzza, Heidi Pashen & Emma Vizard.

The Fast Motion team played the Young Sapphires with the Sapphires playing great netball for all four quarters.

Despite their loss, Fast Motion showed plenty of talent throughout the game which will prove them to be contenders toward finals.

Final Score was 18-0 to the Sapphires with best players Jay Heidke, Sophee Watson & Mikaela Fischer.

 

The Intermediate competition pitted Young Guns 2 against the 12 Rep Team in a great game with the Reps matching the Guns for 3 quarters.

It was a great effort by this skillful little team, the Guns lifted in the last quarter to take the game 15-10 with best players Koreena Minniecon, Faith Kempster and Jaime Thurtell.

Young Guns 1 played the SuperHeroes in a fast paced competitive game, the SuperHeroes matched up well all over the court creating great plays but the Guns took the game 15-4 with best players Samaria Denman and Nanook Aston Boyle.

 

Thanks to our Junior umpires (it's not an easy job!)  Myah Lowenstein-Jones, Mackenzie Booth, Heidi Pashen, Logan Buzza, Kyah Francis, Jess Viola, Loukita Aston-Boyle and Jaime Thurtell.

 

The senior competition played the RingIns against Young Guns 1.

The game was cleanly contested between both sides and a pleasure to watch friendly rivalry at it's best.

The RingIns, on 27, defeated the Guns on 15 with the best & fairest named Tiah McLean.

Division 2 continued with the Bluebirds playing Port Power.

The Power were just that, taking the game 45-16 with the best & fairest player named Chantelle Ives.

Spot On played the Gunnars on Court 3 with the the Gunnars getting off to a strong start, shooting 11 goals to 2 despite a great effort by the Spot On team to match the Gunnars at goal scoring. 

In the secondnd quarter the damage was done - final score was 28-13 to the Gunnars best & fairest Bindi McKenzie.

Rattle n Hum 2 played Crocs 2 in an absolute nailbiter from the first siren to the last, with the Rattle team up by a goal at half time.

the Crocs fought back but just ran out of time and went down by a goal.

Final score 27-26 with the Anna Sneddon named as Best and Fairest.  

 

Division 1 played Crocs 1 against Rattle n Hum 1, Rattle were on their game from the first siren and continued to score despite some great defence by Crocs 1.

Final score was 49-32 to Rattle n Hum 1 with bet & fairest player Kate Cooper.

The Jets played Dynamite on Court 2 with the Jets strong in all positions over the court.

Dynamite stood up and defended well in a great effort. 

Final score was Jets on 30 points and Dynamite on 12, with best & fairest Lisa Brown.
