Saturday saw six shooters turn up at the Mossman range with only four opting to test their skills on what was a perfect day with a light breeze and a very light mirage.
Norbert Schmidt scored a mediocre 118/3 from a possible 126 in the F Class comp 308 comp.
Malcom McKellar took honors with 101/4 from a possible 105 followed by Rick Mischlewski in second place with a score of 94/5 in the Full Bore 308 Comp.
Neil Attwood shot well on the first 600 mtr range but had to retire in the middle of the second range due to a faulty rear sight.
Norbert Schmidt was the first shooter to set up his scoped mechanically rested target rifle on the mound and he quickly found the center of the target with 5's and 6's to score a first range tally of 56 from 60.
Neil Attwood was the next Shooter on the mound behind his trusty target rifle. Neil opened with low shots and then went on to shoot very good to score a first range 47 with two super V bulls from 50.
Rick Mischlewski was next to shoulder his 308 target rifle. Rick shot a mediocre first range with a tally of 43 from a possible 50 in the ten shot match.
Malcolm McKellar was the last man down to shoulder his Full bore rifle. Mal's first range score of 48/2 was pretty impressive considering he has had a three month break from the range.
Norbert was back again behind his custom 308 rifle letting loose eleven shots in fairly quick succession to gain a second range score of 62/3 from a possible 66.
Neil Attwood was next down to try and better his first range score only to be disappointed at having to retire as he could not locate the center target due to a faulty rear sight.
Rick Mischlewski was again on the mound and after some coaching from Mal he lifted his game and pulled quiet a few superb shots to gain a second range score of 51/5 from a possible 55.
Malcom McKellar was back on the mound to shoot another impressive second range score of 53/2 in the eleven shot match.
We would like to thank our marker Jed Kemp and our scorer Ron Schild for another great day at the range. The club meets every Saturday at 1:00 pm at the range situated half way between Port Douglas and Mossman on the Cook Highway. Any one interested in this great sport can come along. All welcome.
