About 1300 people checked out Douglas Photographic Society’s first Carnivale exhibition at the Port Douglas Community hall last week.

Visitors over the course of the week-long exhibition praised the quality of images and this was reflected the high number of originals and prints that were sold.

Glenda Gordon’s ‘Green Frog’ photo won the Popular Vote, with Joan Gray winning Club Photographer of the Year with her ‘Crystal Waves’ entry and Trevor Ford taking out the Sass Studio Best Image with his shot of Mt Lewis.

Douglas Photographic Society president Nada Petrasevic said the quality of the Society’s first outing had been ‘fabulous’ and commended members on their efforts.

“I'm extremely proud of every member and their passion, commitment and involvement,” she said.

Ms Petrasevic added that the Society was open to photographers with any level of experience and anyone interested did not have to have ‘expensive equipment’ to join.
