Mayor Julia Leu along the Douglas Photographic Society’s President Nada Petrasevic and Carnivale’s General Manager Roy Weavers have declared the Tropic Destinations photographic exhibition open this week.

Mayor Leu praised the passion of the photographic society's members in presenting such a high quality exposition to add to the success of Carnivale 2014.  

She urged all people to attend the exhibition to view the bush scenery and subjects of local interest, which would give a broader understanding of what Port Douglas and surrounding areas are all about, and give visitors additional ideas of what to do and see.

Ms Leu went on to say that groups such as this add immeasurably to the quality of living in far north Queensland and there may be ways by which the Council can help other than monetary.

On Monday around 150 people attended the exhibition which is open from 10am to 6pm, through to next Sunday afternoon.
