Katie Brown's 'golden heart' has won over Miss Carnivale judges, naming her ambassador for Port Douglas' biggest tourism event starting in May.
The winner was announced earlier this month in front of more than 80 guests at a gala dinner at Niramaya Villas and Spa celebrating the event's 20th anniversary.
Port Douglas business owner Ella Shannon placed second and the duo will attend key Carnivale events together in an official capacity.
Ms Brown said she was looking forward to taking on her duties as tourism ambassador for the region, including attending the Australian Tourism Exchange next month in Cairns.
"This is a wonderful opportunity to not only learn and experience even more of Port Douglas, but to share the joy of my experiences with others in the hope of luring more people to the region,” she said.
Carnivale manager Roy Weavers said Ms Brow was was an ideal ambassador for the 10-day festival, starting on May 16.
"Katie is extremely personable and approachable," Mr Weavers said.
"She has worked as a flight attendant for six years before she left to do volunteer work at an orphanage in Africa.
"As a business owner in Port Douglas, Ella also takes an active role in many of the goings on in Port Douglas and is heavily involved in charitable events.”
Mr Weavers thanked the event's sponsors including Wine Divas and Rasa Restaurant & Bar who helped celebrate Carnivale’s 'two decades of sustained growth'.
"It was a fantastic night, filled with lots of great people and some of Carnivale’s original founders, who we presented with special tributes on the night,” he said.
Ms Brown will receive a $300 two-day Lulus Model Management Modelling and Self Improvement Workshop, a 12-month casting contract with Lulus Model Management, a photo shoot in Port Douglas Magazine modelling clothing from Cairns Central, a two night stay at Niramaya Villas and Spa Port Douglas valued at $2000 and a degustation dinner for two at Rasa Restaurant.
Cuckoo Crew Productions will also create a photographic portfolio for Ms Brown.
Port Douglas boutique store, ROSE&BOY will provide a personal styling session and a winning dress.
