Youthful exuberance and a passion for good food has inspired Port Douglas chef Nick Wakely to open his own cafe.
Mr Wakely, 24, welcomed customers into Off the Track, located on Warner Street opposite the Coles car park, on Thursday and says business couldn't be better.
"So far, we're doing about 100 burgers a day," he says.
"It's all freshly made and is absolutely delicious."
Mr Wakely says the cafe offers take away meals and delivers to anywhere in Port Douglas or Craiglie.
Delivery is free for any order of more than $20.
The gourmet burgers, he says, are his specialty.
"That's what I really wanted to do," Mr Wakely says.
"I've been cooking here for the past six years and realised there was a market for a cafe and take away that delivers through the night."
Mr Wakely says Off the Track is open seven days a week from 7am to 10pm.
If you happen to stop by he says you'll almost definitely find him behind the counter.
"At the moment I'm working like 18 hour days but it's great," he says.
